More than just an association—we are a family. Preserving the legacy of the Great Benin Kingdom while building a future in the Diaspora.
Edo Community Berlin e.V. is a Berlin-based, non-profit community organization representing people of Edo origin from Nigeria and friends of Edo culture. For over 30 years, the community has served as a platform for cultural preservation, social responsibility, and community development in Germany.
Our work spans charitable support for vulnerable communities in Nigeria, cultural and social events in Berlin, and the promotion of integration, education, and intergenerational dialogue within the African diaspora and German society.
We stand for unity, cultural pride, and positive contribution connecting heritage with modern community life in Berlin and beyond.
From humble beginnings to a pillar of the community.
A small group of Edo professionals in Berlin met to discuss the need for a unified body to support new arrivals and celebrate traditional festivals.
We officially registered as an Eingetragener Verein (e.V.) under German law, formalizing our commitment to non-profit community service.
With hundreds of active members, we now host annual cultural galas, language workshops, and charitable initiatives back home in Nigeria.
We believe that "Ovbi'Edo gha bun, o khian." United we stand, fostering brotherhood and sisterhood across cities.
Preserving the dignity of the Benin Kingdom, our language, our attire, and our respect for elders.
Supporting the educational and professional advancement of our members in German society.
Providing a safety net for members in times of joy and in times of need.
